Reducing Noise in Customer Service Areas

Busy customer service areas often struggle with high noise levels that can affect both staff and visitors. Conversations at the front desk, ringing phones, and sound travelling into adjoining rooms can all contribute to a distracting environment. This was the challenge faced by CoHealth in Melbourne’s western suburbs.

The reception area at CoHealth was located adjacent to consulting rooms, and noise was carrying throughout the building. A solution was needed to reduce reverberation while maintaining the aesthetic of the space. After a consultation with Sontext, the team selected Serenity Acoustic Panels, including both plain-coloured panels and a feature Serenity Art Panel.

A Practical and Visual Solution

Serenity panels were supplied in a range of colours to suit the interior design of the facility. The addition of a Serenity Art Panel brought visual interest while also helping to absorb sound. The client selected a meaningful image from their internal image library, although Sontext also offers access to professional libraries such as Dreamstime for custom artwork panels.

Why Serenity Panels Were Chosen

For this project, 50mm thick Serenity panels were used to maximise acoustic performance. Their construction includes a robust internal frame and a high-impact backing, making them ideal for high-traffic areas like reception spaces. These panels can also be removed and relocated if necessary, thanks to Sontext’s unique fixing system.

By combining effective sound absorption with customisable finishes, Serenity panels provided a solution that improved acoustic comfort without compromising the look and feel of the environment.
